How are same-day turnovers scheduled?

Short answer

A same-day turnover is a checkout and a check-in on the same date at the same property. Lemon schedules the clean at the property's checkout time (default 11:00) so it finishes before check-in (default 15:00), treats the job as time-critical, and never widens or cancels it on calendar noise. 32 same-day turnover pairs are currently on Lemon's calendars.

The window

Every property in Lemon has a default checkout time and a default check-in time — 11:00 and 15:00 unless you change them. A same-day turnover gives the cleaner the gap between the two. Lemon schedules the checkout job at the checkout time and shows the check-in on the job so the cleaner knows the deadline; the average clean in production is 93 minutes (median), which fits comfortably, but a four-hour window with a delayed guest departure does not, which is why the late-checkout flow exists.

Why same-day turnovers are where calendar bugs hurt

Back-to-back stays are exactly the shape Booking.com merges into one iCal block, hiding the middle checkout. They are also the stays most often re-keyed. Lemon's merged-block and re-key guards were written for this case; the cleaner on the first stay keeps the job, and any nights the merge leaves unexplained are surfaced to the host.
