Setting it up
- In Hostaway, signed in as the account owner: Settings → Hostaway API → Create. Name it "Lemon", choose the partner option "Hostaway Public API", and copy the Account ID and API key (shown once).
- In Lemon: Settings → Connected apps → Hostaway → Connect, and paste both. Lemon verifies them against Hostaway and lists your listings.
- Lemon creates the webhook in your Hostaway account itself. There is no URL, secret or password for you to copy.
- Choose which listings Lemon should clean. Each is matched to an existing Lemon property or created, and its iCal feeds are switched off so only one calendar drives it. New cleans start in review mode: nothing is sent to a cleaner until you release it.
No partner agreement is needed: any Hostaway customer can create an API key, and the key can be revoked in Hostaway at any time.
What arrives
The reservation: status, arrival and departure dates, the listing's check-in and check-out hours in the listing's own time zone, channel (Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, direct and the rest), guest count and the confirmation code. Guest names, contact details, notes and door codes are dropped before anything is stored; a cleaner sees how many guests, never who.
A confirmed reservation (new or modified) creates a checkout job. A request, an inquiry, an expired or declined booking creates nothing until Hostaway confirms it. An owner stay becomes a block on the calendar with no clean, which you can add one to. A cancellation cancels the job and tells the cleaner, except close to the turnover, where Lemon keeps everything and asks you first.
Reliability
Hostaway's webhooks carry no signature, can be delayed, and never say when a reservation was deleted, so Lemon treats each one as a hint: it re-reads the reservation from Hostaway before acting, sweeps for changes every two minutes, re-reads the whole forward calendar a few times a day, and flags a booking whose reservation has vanished rather than cancelling it. If Hostaway switches the webhook off, Settings says so and offers to make a new one; syncing by poll continues meanwhile.
